Will window tinting make my house feel too cold in Winter?

Here in Perth we don’t have to deal with snow during the winter but we still get hit with a lot of glare during the day and it definitely gets super crisp and chilly here during the night and early mornings!

I actually get asked this question a lot, could window tinting make it too cold in the house during winter and could it make certain rooms too dark?’

First things first, window tint will not make your house seem cooler in winter, in fact it will do the exact opposite and insulate your windows by helping retain the interior heat!

Because windows make up a big portion of a house they need extra attention given to them so that they don’t radiate heat through the summer months and leak cold air during the winter months. Window film can be the catalyst that turns that around so that you have consistent temperature regulation all year round and thereby save money by reducing excess heating and cooling costs.

I have had concerns from customers about the rooms in their house being too dark during winter time. That’s why choosing the right window film from the start helps and that’s where my job comes in. Saying that, one thing that is very strong during the winter months in Perth is glare, as soon as it becomes rainy, overcast and there is a hint of sunshine around it can be brutal.
